Twitter will begin testing an 'Edit button' soon

Twitter will begin testing an ‘Edit button’ soon. 

Since last year, Twitter has been looking at how to include an ‘Edit‘ tool. It intends to start testing this shortly. 

The edit button was mentioned by Twitter’s PR team, albeit they stated that the idea did not come from a poll, referring to Elon Musk’s recent survey on the subject. 

According to recent reports, Musk has become a majority shareholder in Twitter and joined the board of directors. On April 1, Twitter’s crew had also blogged about an “edit” button, but everyone assumed it was an April Fool’s joke.

According to Jay Sullivan, Twitter’s Head of Product, the business has been studying ways to construct the “Edit feature safely” and will begin testing it out in the coming months within Twitter Blue Labs.

Sullivan stated that the ‘Edit’ button is still the most frequently requested in a Twitter discussion because people want to “correct (sometimes embarrassing) mistakes, typos, and heated takes.” 

“Edit might be exploited to modify the record of the public conversation without things like time restrictions, controls, and transparency about what has been edited,” he noted.

He went on to say that Twitter understands the importance of maintaining the integrity of the public conversation by having an Edit button. 

“As a result, it will take time, and we will aggressively seek advice and counter-intuitive thinking before launching Edit.” 

“We’ll approach this feature with care and consideration, and we’ll keep you updated as we progress,” he wrote.
