Xbox App for Samsung 2022 Smart TVs Announced; Launch Date Set for 30 June

Microsoft said Thursday that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate customers would soon be able to play games through Xbox Cloud Gaming on Samsung 2022 intelligent TVs via a new Xbox app.

On June 30, the Xbox App for smart TVs will be available on Samsung’s 2022 smart TVs and monitors. Popular Bluetooth controllers, as well as Bluetooth headphones for gaming audio, will be compatible with the new Xbox software and Samsung’s smart TVs.

It will also be comparable to Xbox in terms of access to new titles from Xbox Game Studios and properties like Bethesda Softworks and others.

Microsoft has announced a partnership with Samsung to bring the Xbox App to Smart TVs in 2022, allowing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate customers to play cloud-enabled games without owning an Xbox device.

This effectively implies that you won’t need expensive specialized hardware to play the subscription’s over 100 games and Xbox Game Studios releases on the same day they’re released.

According to Microsoft, streaming Xbox games on a Samsung 2022 smart TV “will be identical to utilizing any other streaming app on your TV,” according to Microsoft.

Popular Bluetooth controllers, such as the Xbox Wireless Controller, PS5’s DualSense, and PS4’s DualShock 4, will be compatible with the Xbox app and Samsung smart TVs, as well as Bluetooth headset support for game audio and chat. The feature will be offered in 27 countries and on a limited number of Samsung smart TVs.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft and Samsung previously collaborated to deliver Xbox Game Pass to Samsung Galaxy handsets.

The new move intends to grow the Xbox Game Pass community, which already numbers over 25 million members globally, and attract new users to the Xbox ecosystem by providing them with different ways to play, whether on TV or the road.

Xbox Corporate Vice President, Gaming Experiences & Platforms Ashley McKissick said the firm is looking at additional TV agreements to deliver the same capabilities to other OEMs.

How to stream games via Xbox app on Samsung smart TV

  1. Turn on your TV and head to the Samsung Gaming Hub
  2. From there, access the new Xbox app. If you can’t see it, then you need a compatible Samsung TV
  3. Log into your existing Microsoft account that has an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership
  4. Connect a Bluetooth-enabled controller, and start playing.
  5. That’s all. Enjoy your games!

You’ll get fast access to hundreds of cloud-enabled games if you’re a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber. However, if you don’t have a membership, you can still test Fortnite, which is free to play.

In India, an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription costs Rs. 499 per month. Gamers using Samsung smart TVs may join straight via the new Xbox app.
