Qualcomm Might Release the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC Soon

Late last year, Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Qualcomm recently released the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, an improved version of the chipset. By the end of this year, the business is now anticipated to introduce its next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Here are some specifics.

Expected release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC in November 2022

Qualcomm announced its annual Snapdragon Tech Summit on its official website, where it will introduce new mobile chipsets and present cutting-edge networking, AI, and gaming technologies. The Summit will take place on November 14 and last until November 17.

If you remember, the 2021 Snapdragon Tech Summit began on November 30. On the first day of the Summit, December 1, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.

On November 17, 2022, however, the business is anticipated to introduce its future Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip sooner than typical. Qualcomm will provide additional information about the event in the coming days, although the company did not confirm the introduction of the chipset.

Currently, our knowledge about the SD 8 Gen 2 CPU is limited. However, reports claim that it would continue with TSMC’s 4nm production node and use a 1+2+2+3 quad-cluster design as opposed to the 1+3+4 tri-cluster architecture of its predecessor.

The chipset is also anticipated to have a Kryo Prime CPU with an ARM Cortex-X3 core, four Kryo Performance CPUs based on Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A710 cores, and three Kryo Efficiency CPUs based on ARM Cortex-A510 cores. The SoC is anticipated to have an integrated Adreno 740 GPU for graphics.

Additionally, the market will start to see smartphones using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC in late December, according to the most recent revelation from the respected Chinese source Digital Chat Station.

The first smartphones powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 are anticipated to be the Xiaomi 13 series handsets.
