You will also need Joy-Con controllers for the games. Switch Sports won’t work on a Switch Lite console. You will need to buy the controllers. Except for football, all modes require one Joy-Con. 

You will need four Joy-Cons to play in that mode. If you don’t have four, you won’t be able to play local multiplayer with your friend.

Switch Lite: Does Switch Sports Work?

Both yes and no. Yes, the Nintendo Switch Lite supports Switch Sports. However, Switch Sports multiplayer is highly restricted. Online play is possible, but it won’t help any game that requires the game to be in split-screen mode. 

You will be asked to dock your console for TV play, which the Nintendo Switch Lite does not support.

To play Switch Sports on the Nintendo Switch Lite, you will need a pair Joy-Con controllers. 

If you want to play with your local friends, you’ll need a regular Nintendo Switch.
