“Antioxidants are abundant in green tea. “However, it has no proven weight reduction or fat loss components,” she said.

Green tea, manufactured from the Camellia Sinensis plant, derives its name from the emerald green color it achieves when boiling uncooked, unfermented leaves for the uninitiated.

Several studies have shown green tea to help people lose weight if they are persistent with their exercises, and Dr. Indu concurred.

“Because you’re drinking a warm beverage, it may contribute indirectly (to weight reduction).” However, if you’re going to put a lot of honey in your green tea, reconsider. She replied, “You could gain weight.”

So, what should one remember while drinking green tea? First, because of the caffeine level in green tea, overconsumption may create harmful effects; thus, moderation is the key.
