Apple Might Not Ship MacBook Air 2022 Immediately: Report

Even though Apple’s WWDC 2022 developer conference is just a few hours away, last-minute speculations haven’t stopped. Even though WWDC is primarily a software event, Apple is likely to unveil an updated MacBook Air

However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has some bad news for anyone wanting to get their hands on a new 2022 MacBook Air in the coming months.

MacBook Air shipments may be delayed

According to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, Apple may suffer supply problems with the new MacBook Air. Because of COVID-19-related lockdowns, Apple’s vendors that manufacture MacBook Air, such as Pegatron and Quanta, have ceased manufacturing in China.

Consequently, the rumour says that if Apple unveils the MacBook Air during the event, we may not receive an instant shipment date.

In terms of the new MacBook Air, famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimates that Apple would ship almost six to seven million devices in the second half of the year, assuming Quanta’s Shanghai manufacturing plant reaches pre-lockdown levels before the third quarter.

While Quanta will be the only manufacturer of the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, Foxconn will work with Quanta to produce the MacBook Air.

Kuo thinks that, contrary to earlier MacBook Air design reports, the new MacBook Air will come in three standard colour options: Gray, Silver, and Gold, as well as a dark blue variation.

While there have been reports that the Air would come with an M2 processor with an eight-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, Kuo thinks that the M1 technology will be used in the 2022 MacBook Air.

A 13-inch MacBook Pro is also in development, with an announcement likely at today’s WWDC 2022 event. However, according to Gurman, this is unlikely to happen.

The MacBook Pro 2022 is expected to have the same design as the present model, with an M2 or M1 processor.

It’s also possible that the touch bar will be excluded. We’ll have to wait and see what Apple has planned for the Mac this year.

WWDC 2022, according to Gurman, will also concentrate on AR/VR while providing essential software improvements. So, what do you want to see at WWDC 2022? Please let us know in the comments section.
